{"id":14554,"date":"2018-07-11T01:56:05","date_gmt":"2018-07-10T15:56:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=14554"},"modified":"2018-07-12T20:48:50","modified_gmt":"2018-07-12T10:48:50","slug":"big-tennis-day-to-remember-jim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/sport\/big-tennis-day-to-remember-jim\/","title":{"rendered":"Big tennis day to remember Jim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>MOOLAP Tennis Club recently held its inaugural Jim Abrahams Memorial Tournament, to honour the memory of a much-loved club member, who passed away just on a year ago.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The tournament was initially in dire threat of not happening, with the weather forecast predicting strong wind, rain, even hail!<\/p>\n<p>Almost miraculously, just prior to the starting time of 11.30am, the clouds and rain disappeared and the tournament went ahead and was quite spectaculously successful too.<\/p>\n<p>Current players, former players and some genuine \u201cblasts from the past\u201d came along, around 50 of them, to honour the memory of the mighty Jimbo and it\u2019s fair to say that it was a social and tennis occasion that will be long remembered!<\/p>\n<p>Tennis In Geelong\u2019s Phil Hunt was on the organising committee and Tennis Vic\u2019s Pete McDonald was also there for a while &#8211; and kicked in some nice prizes for a raffle too!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14543\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14543\" style=\"width: 278px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/07\/Big-tennis-day-to-remember-Jim-2.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/07\/Big-tennis-day-to-remember-Jim-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"278\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14543\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14543\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The winners, left to right, Jake (club president), Fran, Joe and Michael.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MOOLAP Tennis Club recently held its inaugural Jim Abrahams Memorial Tournament, to honour the memory of a much-loved club member, who passed away just on a year ago.
