WILD conditions didn’t stop the frisbee’s from flying at the Victorian Mixed Ultimate Championships over the weekend.<\/p>\n

From September 14 to15 more than 300 participants and 19 teams battered wet and windy weather as they competed at Torquay’s Banyul-Warri Fields.<\/p>\n

Ultimate Victoria general manager Simon Talbot said it was a successful weekend with some great ultimate.<\/p>\n

“The weather made it a little bit challenging, but being a state championship event, the teams were able to cope with the rain and the wind ok.<\/p>\n

“On a windy day, the wind can blow the frisbee around a little bit, which makes it a little bit tricky to throw, but changes how the teams play, it makes it more challenging but not impossible.”<\/p>\n

19 teams participated in the annual competition.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

Half Moon finished in the top position following the two days of games, with Chilly Chimichanga coming in second and The Sunflowers finishing in third.<\/p>\n

“There was some really close match games and a couple of upsets but it was good to see everyone giving their absolute best,” Mr Talbot said.<\/p>\n

Vanessa Gan from team Chilly Soup and Fionn Somers from Chilly Chimichanga were awarded most valuable players for the event.<\/p>\n

The top five teams from the Victorian competition will go on to compete at the National Australian Mixed Ultimate Championships in October.<\/p>\n

“We’re hoping Victoria is going to be well represented there and hoping a Victorian team takes out the title.”<\/p>\n
