RESIDENTS and guests of the Kennett River Caravan Park have helped raise more than $3500 for the Kennett River Surf Life Saving Club by collecting cans for cash.<\/p>\n

More than 35,000 bottles and cans have been gathered so far this year to help clean up the park and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

Park manager Ty Donaldson and Kennett River SLSC member Tim Rothman recently deposited all the cans and bottles at the Brotherhood of St Lawrence depot in Geelong.<\/p>\n

Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority accommodation services manager Brendan Parker congratulated both parties on the initiative.<\/p>\n

“Each can we collect is helping to ensure the surf lifesaving club has the resources it needs to protect our community this summer,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We’re proud of our caravan parks and we want to work together to support communities along the Great Ocean Road.”<\/p>\n

The Victorian Container Deposit Scheme rewards Victorians with a 10-cent refund for every eligible can, carton and bottle they return.<\/p>\n
