Following the release of his 12th album, country music singer and songwriter Troy Cassar-Daley took to the road on a national tour.<\/p>\n

As the string of performances come to an end, he will make his way to Anglesea Memorial Hall for a performance presented by the Sound Doctor on November 24.<\/p>\n

Cassar-Daley released his debut album in 1995 and since then has gone on to receive ARIA Awards, Golden Guitars, Deadly Awards and more.<\/p>\n

His latest album, Between the Fires, was written at his childhood home following the passing of his mother.<\/p>\n

Cassar-Daley said it was a real experience to take some of his close friends and musicians to his childhood home, something he never thought he would get the chance to do.<\/p>\n

“It was an amazing experience; I don’t think I’ll ever replicate anything like this.<\/p>\n

“We all arrived not knowing what to expect, but when we left, I think we all left a little piece of ourselves around that fire and that’s what makes the whole project special for us.”<\/p>\n

Compared to his previous releases, this album felt a lot different for Cassar-Daly to put together, and something he said took a lot of courage.<\/p>\n

“Getting ready for the record, I was a little bit scared because I didn’t know how it would come out, doing something at your late mum’s house, there’s always going to be a little bit of a risk.<\/p>\n

“As I was going through the songs each day with the band, my confidence started to grow and I felt really good about what was happening.”<\/p>\n

While on tour, he’s found many people have resonated with his music, highlighting a lot of emotion from the album.<\/p>\n

“I feel like this show is just an extension of me as a child, sitting around the fire with my mum and dad and my uncles and aunties and it’s just an extension of what I grew up with.”<\/p>\n

Cassar-Daley said there was a lot of storytelling in the show and is what he believes madee it so special for the audience.<\/p>\n

“After losing my mum, I went through a whole bunch of daily grief, and I think people will hear a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel in this show.<\/p>\n

“There are a lot of people who are carrying bits and pieces with them and sometimes, you maybe need a song every now and then to unlock stuff, and I think that’s what people will be able to take away from this show.”<\/p>\n

As this tour comes to an end, the singer is starting to gather ideas for his next release, saying his most recent album has been the “best therapy” he’s had in a long time.<\/p>\n

“It just got me out of some dark places and now it’s time to write something brighter, probably happier things and I’m looking forward to doing that.”<\/p>\n
