BREAST Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) and V\/Line have announced that ticketholders to next month\u2019s 2018 Field of Women will be provided with free return travel to the event.<\/p>\n
The initiative was recently launched at Southern Cross Station with a group of courageous breast cancer survivors from regional Victoria who helped make the announcement.<\/p>\n
Field of Women \u2013 which has become a global symbol of breast cancer support \u2013 will directly precede the Round 21 AFL match between Melbourne and Sydney on August 12.<\/p>\n
In 2018, it is estimated that 18,235 Australians will be diagnosed with breast cancer. The aim of Field of Women is to have this number represented by women, men and children standing together in the shape of BCNA\u2019s iconic Pink Lady.<\/p>\n
In addition to raising awareness by bringing breast cancer statistics to life, Field of Women also reminds those affected by breast cancer they are not alone.<\/p>\n
BCNA chief executive officer Kirsten Pilatti expects that the free travel bonus will be a big drawcard for many regional families.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis offer will make a big difference to breast cancer survivors and their families making the journey from regional areas,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe more supporters we have for this special event, the more powerful it will be.\u201d<\/p>\n
V\/Line chief executive officer James Pinder said V\/Line was thrilled to be supporting the 2018 Field of Women event.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt V\/Line, we\u2019re all about being involved in the communities we serve and supporting this event is an extension of that.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is such an important cause and something that means a lot to many of our staff so we\u2019re really pleased to be involved.\u201d<\/p>\n
Proceeds from Field of Women ticket sales will help BCNA continue its vital work in providing resources, programs and services to Australians affected by breast cancer.<\/p>\n
