{"id":147692,"date":"2024-10-12T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-11T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=147692"},"modified":"2024-10-10T13:26:45","modified_gmt":"2024-10-10T02:26:45","slug":"courageous-tales-take-centre-stage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/courageous-tales-take-centre-stage\/","title":{"rendered":"Courageous tales take centre stage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than 60 people celebrated and honoured stories of courage and bravery at Art of the Minds Big Boy Breakfast this week.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Boys Breakfast highlighted the challenges men face in<\/p>\n<p>managing their own mental health and celebrated courageous heroes who have left a lasting legacy for future generations to reflect upon and be inspired by.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/B07K1110-ChrisHenson_64409.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chris Henson and Shaun O&#8217;Callaghan.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The event was headlined by special guest presenter and former AFL player Lance Picioane.<\/p>\n<p>Best known for his eight-year career with Adelaide, Hawthorn and North Melbourne, Picioane is also the founder and chief executive officer youth mental health foundation Love Me Love You.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/B07K1079-LyndseyDudg_64454.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lyndsey Dudgon and Helen Paull.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He shed light on his personal journey and his belief no one should have to travel along life on their own with no support.<\/p>\n<p>Art of the Minds president Jules Haddock and staff from StandBy &#8211; Support After Suicide, Wellways and Foundation 61 also shared stories of impact.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/B07K1083-MartinDuke-_64506.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Martin Duke and Neil Roche.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Haddock said the vulnerability and honesty on show made it an amazing event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Every speaker was just truly incredible.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Robyn from StandBy spoke powerfully about her journey in losing two children to suicide and the importance of their services to help.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As our special guest, Lance was just brilliant. Don&#8217;t try problem solve.
