Sinusitis means infection or inflammation of the sinuses.<\/p>\n

Your sinuses are four pairs of air-filled cavities located in the cheeks, forehead and around the eyes.<\/p>\n

The sinuses actually lighten the skull, allow for voice resonance and humidify the air we breathe.<\/p>\n

Their main function is to produce a mucus to moisturise the lining of the nose.<\/p>\n

This mucus layer protects the nose from pollutants, micro-organisms, dust and dirt.<\/p>\n

Sinusitis may be caused by allergies, common colds, environmental pollens irritating the nasal passages, such as with hay fever or bacterial or viral infection.<\/p>\n

Consume freshly cooked, light, crisp and bitter foods and stay hydrated with warm liquids like herbal tea (possibly with lemon and ginger) and try inhaling steam with some eucalyptus oil to break up the mucus.<\/p>\n
