A NEW artistic addition could be on the way to Bob Pettitt Reserve, following a generous allocation of funds to the Jan Juc Cricket Club.<\/p>\n
Former Jan Juc Sharks president Amber Heath has directed her $500 cash prize from finishing fourth in this year’s Surf Coast Times AFL Community Footy Tipping competition, to facilitate the commission of a new mural, to be painted onto the club’s shed located adjacent to the cricket oval.<\/p>\n
Ms Heath said given her extensive history with the club, it was a no-brainer to nominate the Sharks as her community organisation of choice for her winnings to be donated, a requirement as part of the tipping competition.<\/p>\n
“Jan Juc is my number one club in the Surf Coast, so given my history there it was an easy decision to nominate the club,” Ms Heath said.<\/p>\n
“I’ve done pretty well this year; I also won my tipping comp at work as well because the app made all the tips the same across all leagues.<\/p>\n
“My keys to tipping success involved going with the favourites, seeing where the injuries were, and then rearranging the picks wherever needed.”<\/p>\n
After discussions with the club’s treasurer Damian Waldron, Ms Heath said the mural was the only project spoken about.<\/p>\n
Mr Waldron is now currently in discussions with various artists across the Surf Coast to determine who will create the mural.<\/p>\n
“Putting our Shark mark on the new shed would be a great way to have our image on the reserve and making the shed a part of our club,” Ms\u00a0Heath said.<\/p>\n
“That might be beneficial in helping us to do that, it’s for a cause, it’s not just a council facility.”<\/p>\n
Jan Juc Cricket Club’s pavilion is also presently undergoing works providing a good opportunity for the mural to be produced in tandem with those works.<\/p>\n
There is no concrete timeline for the mural’s completion until an artist has been selected.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
