ONE of the largest events on the Aireys Inlet community’s calendar is coming around the corner fast, as local parents are banding together to make this year’s occasion bigger and better than ever before.<\/p>\n

The Aireys Fair, hosted annually by the Aireys Inlet Primary School Parents and Friends Group, is back on the coast next Saturday and the small seaside town is counting down the minutes ahead of another bumper event.<\/p>\n

Fair committee member Kara Cheah said the committee has been hard at work to make this year’s event a reality but noted it would not have been possible without the community support from local businesses.<\/p>\n

“Planning the fair is always a challenge, each year it brings a new challenge, but it’s so worth it because it’s the most fun and creative event I have ever been part of.<\/p>\n

“The day as a whole means so much to the school, the kids, and the community, so all of the extra challenges and obstacles we encounter, we just work together and laugh our way through it.<\/p>\n

“It’s not only a great event, but it’s also a great fundraiser for the school as well.”<\/p>\n

Food, drinks, cakes, market stalls, music and rides are all on the ticket for this year’s proceedings.<\/p>\n

Ms Cheah said community is the overarching theme each year the fair is held, with the majority of sponsors again committing to another year of support.<\/p>\n

“We understand times are tough financially, so we go into our planning with pretty low expectations of what people can offer, then we are just blown away by people’s generosity and what they donate.<\/p>\n

“It’s been a relief, but it is all really heartwarming, which just shows how strong the community is here.”<\/p>\n

The funds raised through silent auctions and raffles on the day will go towards the school’s programs supporting mental health and well-being, particularly in regional areas.<\/p>\n
