{"id":150105,"date":"2024-11-16T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-15T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=150105"},"modified":"2024-11-14T15:26:27","modified_gmt":"2024-11-14T04:26:27","slug":"stage-2a-complete-at-christian-college-surf-coast-campus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/stage-2a-complete-at-christian-college-surf-coast-campus\/","title":{"rendered":"Stage 2A complete at Christian College Surf Coast campus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>STUDENTS at Christian College&#8217;s Surf Coast campus will have better facilities to learn and play in following the completion of the Stage 2A building project.<\/p>\n<p>Stage 2A consists of two general learning classrooms for Grade 2 students, an administration facility and a state-of-the-art gymnasium and sports centre.<\/p>\n<p>The $6.8 million upgrades were officially opened by Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney and stakeholders from Christian College on Friday last week.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/11\/IMG_7022_35903.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stage 2A was funded through just under $5 million from the Christian College community, $2 million from the Victorian government, and support from the Bendigo Bank.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The developments will help the college offer greater intellectual and sporting opportunities for its students, while also helping to accommodate for increasing enrolments.<\/p>\n<p>The Surf Coast campus is heading toward providing education to more than 450 students in the next\u00a0few years.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/11\/IMG_7058_35976.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mr Fuller and Ms Tierney cutting the ribbon with students.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms Tierney said she was overjoyed to officially open the new facilities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A huge thanks to the students and teachers for their drive which has weaved the thread through this community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I also thank those who have constructed what is upon us, for their hard work, foresight and energy they have to make sure this school continued to run during building.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This project will hold this community in good stead for a long time and provide it with plenty\u00a0of opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a state government, we know this community has the support of the school, and our $2 million investment has sure been well spent.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/11\/IMG_7035_35980.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">More than 50 students, teachers, parents and dignitaries attended the opening.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Christian College acting principal Rick Geall welcomed the opening of the new facilities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been a great opportunity to celebrate, and I express my gratitude to all of those who helped this come to fruition,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These will be spaces which play a pivotal role in life at this campus, and I&#8217;m sure the Surf Coast region even more broadly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The gym in particular will be a place our students can develop their physical abilities and engage in healthy activity with confidence and resilience.
