{"id":150305,"date":"2024-11-17T10:06:15","date_gmt":"2024-11-16T23:06:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/morrison-claims-maiden-club-best-and-fairest-after-superb-campaign\/"},"modified":"2024-11-17T10:22:09","modified_gmt":"2024-11-16T23:22:09","slug":"morrison-claims-maiden-club-best-and-fairest-after-superb-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/sport\/morrison-claims-maiden-club-best-and-fairest-after-superb-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"Morrison claims maiden club best and fairest after superb campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG Cats midfielder Nina Morrison has added a club best and fairest to her AFLW resume, winning her first Geelong Cats Best and Fairest award last night (Saturday, November 16) following a terrific 2024 season.<\/p>\n<p>Morrison, 23, featured in all 11 of Geelong\u2019s games this season, averaging 20.8 disposals and 7.1 tackles, while also kicking five goals.<\/p>\n<p>She polled 138 votes on her way to winning the award, finishing in front of Irish forward Aishling Moloney\u2019s 98 votes and Georgie Prespakis\u2019 74 votes.<\/p>\n<p>Morrison had previously secured podium finishes in 2023 (runner-up) and 2022 Season 7 (third).<\/p>\n<p>Moloney kicked 21 goals to secure the AFLW\u2019s leading goalkicker award, tied alongside Brisbane\u2019s Taylor Smith.<\/p>\n<p>Moloney contined the good form shown in her 2023 rookie season, including a six-goal display against the Eagles this year in Round 9, and being announced as part of the All-Australian squad of 42.<\/p>\n<p>Last year\u2019s club Best and Fairest winner Prespakis averaged 20.2 disposals, 5.7 tackles and 5.6 clearances per game in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_107211\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-107211\" style=\"width: 417px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-107211 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2024\/11\/467315868_882090620795781_4294600340232516103_n.jpg?_t=1731798440\" alt=\"\" width=\"417\" height=\"313\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-107211\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">L-R: Geelong&#8217;s top three vote-getters at last night&#8217;s Best and Fairest award night Georgie Prespakis, Nina Morrison and Aishling Moloney.
