{"id":151725,"date":"2024-12-13T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-12T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=151725"},"modified":"2024-12-13T03:01:57","modified_gmt":"2024-12-12T16:01:57","slug":"playgroup-wraps-up-successful-year-with-christmas-party","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/playgroup-wraps-up-successful-year-with-christmas-party\/","title":{"rendered":"Playgroup wraps up successful year with Christmas party"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JAN Juc&#8217;s Bob Pettitt Pavilion was abuzz with festive fun and laughter on Tuesday morning, as local families gathered for the Jan Juc Playgroup&#8217;s annual Christmas party.<\/p>\n<p>More than 40 families attended the event where they enjoyed the opportunity to connect, make new friends and celebrate another successful year, alongside a raffle, bake sale and free coffee.<\/p>\n<p>Entertainment included face painting, free play and a visit from Santa, with the Torquay Lions Club on hand to delight the little ones with train rides around the reserve.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/12\/DSC03977_03771.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Entertainment included face painting, free play and a visit from Santa.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/12\/DSC03940_03872.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Playground president Whitney Phillips said it was wonderful to have so many families come together for the event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Children were riding the train, crafting or playing, [and getting] their smiling faces painted as they waited for Santa&#8217;s arrival,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And parents [were] equally cheery catching up with friends.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are very grateful to our vibrant community of young families that attended that brought the buzz and giggles.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/12\/DSC03971_03825.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cheery parents enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with friends.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/12\/DSC03951_03830.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Federal member for Corangamite Libby Coker (second from left) also stopped by for a visit.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She thanked the playgroup&#8217;s committee for their &#8220;industrious work&#8221;, and the Lions Club and 3rd Reef Coffee for their support.<\/p>\n<p>Based out of the cricket club rooms at Bob Pettitt Reserve, the Jan Juc Playgroup has been held throughout the year on Tuesday mornings between 9.30am and 11.30am.<\/p>\n<p>New families are always welcome to join the playgroup and with the right numbers, the playgroup hopes to be open two days per week through 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Yearly membership with the playgroup is $45, a figure Ms Phillips said was &#8220;sensational value&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/12\/DSC03958_03893.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/12\/DSC03937_03885.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"602\" height=\"401\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The playgroup is also hoping to connect with community members interested in joining its committee.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are an organisation that is reliant upon members and volunteers, and we are calling for new committee members for 2025 to help ensure our playgroup continues on into the future,&#8221;
