Melbourne indie-folk duo the Pierce Brothers will stop by the Torquay Hotel next year as part of a national tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of the EP that launched them into the spotlight.<\/p>\n

The release of eight-track EP The Night Tree in 2014 marked a turning point for twin brothers Jack and Patrick Pierce \u2013 who got their start busking on Bourke Street \u2013 and transformed the pair into international sensations and a must-see act on the home stage.<\/p>\n

A decade later, the duo has headlined sold-out shows across the globe, performed at some of the biggest live music festivals in Europe, generated more than 40 million global streams, and supported some of Australia’s biggest stars including Tash Sultana, Tones and I, The Cat Empire and – last month – James Blunt.<\/p>\n

Along the way, the Pierce Brothers’ musical output has continued to impress, with their 2018 debut album Atlas Shoulders reaching #13 on the ARIA charts and this year’s full length album release Everything Is Bigger Than Me reaching #14, while follow up EPs Into the Dirt in 2015 and The Records Were Ours in 2017, both secured top 10 spots on the ARIA charts.<\/p>\n

The warmth and charisma of The Night Tree remains an enduring part of the duo’s growing legacy, with the wistful Genevieve and the stomping delight of White Whale still firm crowd pleasers.<\/p>\n

Ahead of next year’s tour, the duo has also released a remastered vision of The Night Tree on vinyl for the first time.<\/p>\n

It features bonus live recordings of each track, which were recorded and filmed at the Pierce Brothers’ own Wattle Studios.<\/p>\n

“This was an EP that really put us on the map, both in Europe and Australia,” Jack said.<\/p>\n

“We never released it on vinyl, so it’ll be great to finally have it the way we always wanted it.<\/p>\n

“We re-recorded an old crowd favourite Flying Home and added it as a bonus track. This is because we always felt like we never really nailed it in those old recordings, so wanted to get a nicer version out there.”<\/p>\n

Jack said the pair had loved returning to The Night Tree after all these years.<\/p>\n

“We came back to these songs so quickly after not playing some of them in a decade, and we realised how much fun they were to play,” Jack said.<\/p>\n

“This tour is going to be all time.”<\/p>\n

He hinted the duo was looking to take some time off after the anniversary tour.<\/p>\n
