GREAT Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA) is working to create a new plan to respond to coastal hazard impacts.<\/p>\n

The team are in the early stages of developing a Regional Coastal Adaptation Plan to manage coastal hazard risks on the Surf Coast from Torquay to Warrnambool.<\/p>\n

“Our coast is dynamic and ever-changing, so to help us strengthen resilience now and into the future,we’re creating a Regional Coastal Adaptation Plan,” director of infrastructure and planning Cath\u00a0Olive said.<\/p>\n

“Natural coastal processes such as erosion, storm tide inundation and cliff failure continue to change and shape the coastline we see today.”<\/p>\n

With an everchanging coast with natural processes including erosion, storm tide inundation and cliff failure, the plan will help to adapt and prepare for impacts.<\/p>\n

Exploring and understanding community knowledge and values of the coastline are at the heart of the process.<\/p>\n

Local and visitors are invited to share their knowledge, values, photos and perspectives about the coast, with their knowledge providing a foundation for confirming coastal values and objectives, coastal processes and tailoring adaptation options.<\/p>\n

The work is supported by funding from Victoria’s Resilient Coast grants program, providing organisations with the funds to progress strategic coastal hazard risk management and adaptation.<\/p>\n
