THE Surf Coast Shire council has endorsed appointments of its members councillors to 17 key committees and regional\/peak organisations, which will take on high priority issues for the rest of this year and into next year.<\/p>\n
The shire says representation on these 17 committees and organisations will ensure the shire can engage with different groups and can advocate, represent and provide for the community.<\/p>\n
Appointments cover areas including the local government sector, council advisory committees, culture and tourism, sustainability and health and wellbeing.<\/p>\n
“Having representation on these committees and regional and peak organisations ensures Council can have input on a broad range of key community matters,” Cr Rebecca\u00a0Bourke said.<\/p>\n
“We review these appointments annually to ensure our involvement is relevant to our strategic goals, Council Plan objectives and community priorities.”<\/p>\n
“I congratulate my fellow councillors for securing representative positions as we continue to work hard in advocating for the Surf\u00a0Coast Shire.”<\/p>\n
Committees established to provide specific advice to the council:<\/strong><\/p>\n Audit & Risk Committee – Cr Liz Pattison, Cr Joel Grist<\/p>\n All Abilities Advisory Committee – Cr Leon Walker<\/p>\n Chief Executive Officer Employment Matters Committee – All councillors<\/p>\n Positive Ageing Advisory Committee – Cr Tony Phelps (sub Cr Joel Grist)<\/p>\n Corporations with local government representation (director positions):<\/p>\n Geelong Regional Library Corporation – Cr Liz Pattison<\/p>\n Great Ocean Road Regional Tourism Inc. board – shire CEO Robyn Seymour<\/p>\n G21 Geelong Region Alliance board of directors – Cr Mike Bodsworth and CEO Robyn Seymour<\/p>\n
