{"id":15206,"date":"2018-08-01T07:54:21","date_gmt":"2018-07-31T21:54:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=15206"},"modified":"2018-08-02T22:11:57","modified_gmt":"2018-08-02T12:11:57","slug":"words-from-the-surf-coast-arts-trail-on-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/living\/words-from-the-surf-coast-arts-trail-on-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Words from the Surf Coast Arts Trail on again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Writers Victoria is encouraging local writers of all ages and abilities to prepare for this year\u2019s Words from the Surf Coast Arts Trail by registering early.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This follows last year\u2019s successful inaugural event, which attracted a high number of participants in the first Arts Trail open mic night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were delighted with the number of writers who came along to read their words, the artists with pieces represented and the more than 50 audience members who turned up to listen,\u201d Writers Victoria\u2019s Surf Coast Regional Ambassador Gail Chrisfield said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year, we\u2019re hoping to build on our initial success by urging more local writers to get out and about over the Arts Trail weekend, on 11 and 12 August, find a piece of art they find inspiring, take a photo and produce a piece of writing about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Participating writers will be eligible to present their words and photos at the free Words from the Surf Coast Arts Trail open mic night at the Surf Coast Arts Space in Anglesea on Thursday August 30 from 6.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>Prizes will be awarded for the best entries, with the event also featuring curated word works by several award-winning local authors, including Favel<br \/>\nParrett and Jock Serong.<\/p>\n<p>Writers are encouraged to register their intention to participate by emailing surfcoast@writersvictoria.org.au.<\/p>\n<p>Registration is free and provides access to more information about the program.<\/p>\n<p>Writers Victoria acknowledges the support of Surf Coast Shire Council\u2019s Small Grants program and the Grace Marion Wilson Trust in making this initiative possible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Writers Victoria is encouraging local writers of all ages and abilities to prepare for this year\u2019s Words from the Surf Coast Arts Trail by registering early.
