	{"id":152124,"date":"2024-12-21T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-20T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=152124"},"modified":"2024-12-17T17:12:19","modified_gmt":"2024-12-17T06:12:19","slug":"warrny-lauched-for-2025-edition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/warrny-lauched-for-2025-edition\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Warrny&#8217; lauched for 2025 edition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic was officially launched last month, featuring an array of past champions to start the countdown to Australia&#8217;s oldest one-day cycling event on February 8.<\/p>\n<p>More than 100 years old, the Melbourne to Warrnambool maintains a tradition being one of the world&#8217;s most brutal and challenging races and has since become a pivotal race in the ProVelo Super League series.<\/p>\n<p>The race, affectionately known as the &#8220;Warny&#8221;, will have a new look in 2025, bringing more opportunity for aspiring club cyclists to compete and test their mettle against professional-level riders.<\/p>\n<p>Age group categories will replace graded divisions this year.<\/p>\n<p>Incumbent race winner Mark O&#8217;Brien hopes to achieve last year&#8217;s feat again on the course, which will begin from Geelong&#8217;s Avalon Airport and loops around the city&#8217;s boundaries on the Ring Road before passing towns such as Barrabool, Gnarwarre, Modewarre and Birregurra before heading west to Warrnambool.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/12\/MelbournetoWarrnambo_26411.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic is Australia&#8217;s oldest one day cycling event.
