HUNDREDS of people will walk for a cause throughout January by participating in the 2025 Lighthouse Classic.<\/p>\n

Members of the community taking part in the event will walk or run a 12-kilometre course from Urquhart Bluff to the Aireys Inlet Lighthouse to shine a light on cancer.<\/p>\n

All funds raised will support the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute (FECRI) in memory of event founder Janet Jones OAM.<\/p>\n

Janet was a board member of FECRI before her passing in 2021.<\/p>\n

Her family said all eyes were on eclipsing the $25,000 fundraising target.<\/p>\n

“The Lighthouse Classic is drawing closer, and we can’t wait to see everyone,” her son Harry said.<\/p>\n

“We are striving for the $25,000 goal this year, and feel we are well on our way with the number of entries we’ve had.<\/p>\n

“It’s sure to be a fantastic day for a great cause.”<\/p>\n

Since 2021, the Lighthouse Classic has raised more than $150,000 to help fund a cancer research scientist at the FECRI in Ballarat.<\/p>\n

Each registration comes with a limited-edition Lighthouse Classic cap.<\/p>\n

People are encouraged to walk on any suitable date in January that works for them.<\/p>\n
