HUNDREDS of people ripped in earlier this month to support local therapeutic surf charity Ocean Mind.<\/p>\n

The Let It Rip music extravaganza at the Torquay SLSC clubrooms aimed to raise vital funds to support the delivery of surf programs for young people experiencing mental health challenges, social isolation and disabilities.<\/p>\n

Watty Thompson and the Total Fire Band was the headline act and moved audiences with its soulful folk material.<\/p>\n

Sargent Baker also featured on the event bill and got the party started with some rock and roll, while Chitra and Jake Hunniford brought the soothing vibes.<\/p>\n

The event also featured a series of raffles and auction prizes.<\/p>\n

Ocean Mind program manager Jack Balakas said the event was able to raise more than $9,000 to continue supporting young children in the region.<\/p>\n

People of all ages supported the event.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

“It was so good. We had 220 people there and the vibe was just incredible.<\/p>\n

“To get $9,000 was pretty cool and it’ll go a long way in us continuing the work we are already doing.<\/p>\n

“We keep our community programs free for young people, and these funds allow us to help keep paying people so others can access it for free.”<\/p>\n
