A NEW headspace centre has opened in Armstrong Creek, providing free mental health services to young people aged 12 to 25.<\/p>\n
The facility, based at the Armstrong Creek East Community Hub, will support young people facing mild to moderate mental health challenges until a permanent centre is built near the Surf Coast Highway.<\/p>\n
Services include mental health care, physical and sexual health support, alcohol and drug assistance, and vocational guidance.<\/p>\n
The headspace is funded by the Federal Government through the Western Victoria Primary Health Network and operated by Stride, with Armstrong Creek joining a national network of 167 centres.<\/p>\n
Corangamite MP Libby Coker said the service was a crucial addition for the fast-growing Armstrong Creek area.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Albanese Labor Government is investing in the health and wellbeing of our community\u2019s young people by opening this headspace in Armstrong Creek,” Coker said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI campaigned hard for this service, and I\u2019m so pleased that we are now delivering on our commitment by rolling out a headspace right in the heart of the rapidly growing township of Armstrong Creek.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Armstrong Creek headspace is a much-needed addition to the health services available in our region, including the headspace in Ocean Grove.<\/p>\n
\u201cEarly intervention is key to reducing the duration and severity of mental ill-health, and I encourage any young person who is struggling with their mental health to visit this new service.\u201d<\/p>\n
