THE Surf Coast and Great Ocean Road region is expanding its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, with the first of four new public charging stations now operational.<\/p>\n
The $470,000 project will install dual-port chargers in Lorne, Aireys Inlet, Anglesea, and Winchelsea by June 2025.<\/p>\n
The Lorne station has replaced a broken charger and is now operational at the Lorne Visitor Information Centre in Mountjoy Parade.<\/p>\n
Work has also begun on the Aireys Inlet charging station, which will be located at the Community Centre in the Great Ocean Road.<\/p>\n
Locations for the Anglesea and Winchelsea stations are still being finalised.<\/p>\n
These installations will be the first public charging stations in Aireys Inlet, Anglesea, and Winchelsea, and will integrate into the Chargefox network.<\/p>\n
The Surf Coast Shire, which is contributing funding alongside the Victorian government, said the project would expand EV infrastructure in the region.<\/p>\n
“These EV charging stations will be part of the Chargefox network, the largest EV charging network in Australia,” the shire stated.<\/p>\n
The Victorian government is providing $343,000 through its Destination Charging Across Victoria Program, which is delivering 116 new charging stations in regional and tourist areas to support the state’s push for increased EV adoption.<\/p>\n
