{"id":15497,"date":"2018-08-09T09:41:22","date_gmt":"2018-08-08T23:41:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=15497"},"modified":"2018-08-17T10:21:00","modified_gmt":"2018-08-17T00:21:00","slug":"jarrod-lyle-passes-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/jarrod-lyle-passes-away\/","title":{"rendered":"Jarrod Lyle passes away"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AUSTRALIAN PGA Tour golfer and The Sands Torquay member Jarrod Lyle has passed away at the age of 36.<\/p>\n<p>Lyle decided about a week ago to stop treatment for cancer and enter palliative care.<\/p>\n<p>Golf Australia and the PGA of Australia released the following statement from Lyle&#8217;s wife Briony this morning.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It breaks my heart to tell everyone that Jarrod is no longer with us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe passed away peacefully at 8.20pm last night, having spent his final week in Torquay among his family and close friends.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLusi, Jemma and I are filled with grief and now must confront our lives without the greatest husband and father we could ever have wished for.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the same time, we have been blessed and overwhelmed with the messages and actions of support from around the world and feel comforted that Jarrod was able to happily impact so many people throughout his life. Our humble thanks to you all.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJarrod was able to take in many of the unbelievably kind and generous acts and words in his final few days and was overwhelmed by the emotional outpouring.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe asked that I provide a simple message: `Thanks for your support, it meant the world. My time was short, but if I\u2019ve helped people think and act on behalf of those families who suffer through cancer, hopefully it wasn\u2019t wasted.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will hold an intimate and private family service in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be a public memorial service at The Sands in Torquay at a date to be annouced later.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs per Jarrod\u2019s wish, please donate to <a href=\"http:\/\/challenge.org.au\">Challenge<\/a> in lieu of gifts or flowers.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AUSTRALIAN PGA Tour golfer and The Sands Torquay member Jarrod Lyle has passed away at the age of 36.
