WITH Anglesea Primary School’s annual Village Fair just over a month away, the organising committee are seeking to connect with local businesses and market stall holders interested in supporting the major fundraising event.<\/p>\n

This year, the primary school is hoping to raise the funds needed to make general improvements to its indoor and outdoor gym and basketball spaces, including its seating, storage, equipment and the surface of the courts.<\/p>\n

These spaces are used regularly by the school, as well as the broader community, with several local clubs using the facilities for training and Surfcoast Basketball Association games being held there each week.<\/p>\n

Funds will also be used to upgrade the readers and books available within the school’s classroom libraries and add extra resources to its\u00a0wellbeing spaces.<\/p>\n

Elise Saw, who manages sponsorships for the Village Fair, said the upgrades would benefit everyone, and invited local businesses eager to lend a hand to become a sponsor or donate an item or voucher to the fair’s silent auction.<\/p>\n

She said each of the auction items would be promoted on social media and the name of the donor will be highlighted on the bidding sheet.<\/p>\n

Last year’s fair saw 30 businesses throw their support behind Anglesea Primary School as a sponsor, while about 50 items were donated to the silent auction.<\/p>\n

Ms Saw said the school was hoping to inspire a similar level of support from the community for this year’s event.<\/p>\n

“It’s a great opportunity for businesses to get some exposure out to the community \u2013 the school community as well as the greater Anglesea community,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We get a lot of visitors to the fair, and then we continue to promote their businesses throughout the year at\u00a0the school.”<\/p>\n

With about 3,000 people expected to attend the Village Fair, event co-ordinator Clare Valentine said the committee was also looking for local artisans interested in getting involved.<\/p>\n

“A big part of the fair has always been the Makers & Growers stalls, which gets bigger and bigger\u00a0every year, and we would love to make it a major feature of the\u00a0fair again,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We are looking for makers and growers offering handcrafted items, small goods, condiments, art, jewellery, delicious produce and more who want to participate in our community fair.”<\/p>\n
