Torquay Bowls Club chair Peter Anderson said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Even if you simply come and enjoy the view from our deck, it is worth the visit.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/02\/IMG_7367_29234.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">People do not have to be members of the bowls club to visit or use its facilities.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a great opportunity for a free family day out in these times where cost of living challenges us all.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He said Torquay Bowls Club was a not-for-profit organisation that understood what an important role it played in the community and how much support it, in return, relied upon and received from the community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So this event is a chance to give something back, say thank you and show what the club has to offer to those who don&#8217;t already know.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The club has over 50 small and medium sized local businesses who support it financially, and more than 700 members.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Many of our members are, or become, active bowlers, some just choose to come to the club and enjoy the social atmosphere and connections, some come for a meal and some are happy to just have a casual bowl on our greens when they feel like it,&#8221; Mr Anderson said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/02\/IMG_7369_29172.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Activities will include live music, a barbecue lunch, and face painting.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He said many people might not appreciate they did not have to be a member of the bowls club to visit or use its facilities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The club is open to the general public for a meal, drink or as many choose to do have a drink and a barefoot bowl.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Since the COVID break, the club has been discovered as a great place to be on a Friday night and weekends and we welcome and value that support from the local community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The club is also a great venue for events including weddings, birthday parties and other celebrations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Torquay Bowls Club is also available for use by community groups in Torquay at no cost, and hosts the Torquay RSL as a sub tenant.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/02\/IMG_7370_29171.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">There will also be a wildlife zoo.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are keen to support local community activities and further promote the community hub concept that we have already partly become,&#8221; Mr Anderson said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have occupied our current site on the Esplanade since 1924 so we are truly a Torquay local.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The club is now the busiest it has ever been with membership and visitor numbers reaching unprecedented levels.<\/p>\n<p>The bar and bistro will also be open on the day but charges will apply for any drinks from the bar and meals from the bistro.<\/p>\n<p>Torquay Bowls Club thanked one of its newest sponsors, Summerset Group Holdings Limited, for its support this year for the open day event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TORQUAY Bowls Club will hold a Community Open Day on March 2.
