Q Train wins two awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Q Train has won two peak industry excellence awards, two months shy of their first anniversary.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Drysdale-Queenscliff gourmand rail operator won Restaurant &#038; Catering Australia\u2019s prestigious Victorian Tourism Restaurant and Consumer Vote awards at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on July 30.<\/p>\n<p>The Q Train was also a finalist in this year\u2019s Telstra Business Awards in the \u201cemerging and energised\u201d category for Victorian businesses held at Crown\u2019s Palladium Room on July 31.<\/p>\n<p>The Q Train, which travels along the heritage Bellarine Railway between Drysdale and Queenscliff, opened for business last October and is the brainchild of Michael Barclay and Andrew Bridger.<\/p>\n<p>The Q Train offers two classes of dining, Q class and first class; Q class is public dining with a six-course degustation; first class has seven private dining compartments for a more romantic experience for couples with matched local wines.<\/p>\n<p>The Q Train\u2019s handsome refurbished dining cars offer diners a delicious rail journey, and unique views of Swan Bay and the Bellarine.<\/p>\n<p>The moving restaurant\u2019s restored six carriages once travelled Queensland rails as part of the \u201cSunlander\u201d running between Brisbane and Cairns.<\/p>\n<p>Their converted interiors now offer a first-order menu by chef Greg Egan utilising delectable local produce such as Sage Farm beef and lamb, Portarlington mussels, Barongarook pork and Wattle Grove honey.<\/p>\n<p>Locally-crafted beers, ciders and exclusive red and white wines serve as the perfect accompaniment to the dining menu.<\/p>\n<p>The R&#038;CA Awards for Excellence are independently judged awards that recognise exceptional service and culinary talent across Australia, R&#038;CA represents 45,000 cafes, restaurants and catering businesses across Australia.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15581\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15581\" style=\"width: 221px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/08\/The-Q-Train-awards.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/08\/The-Q-Train-awards.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"221\" height=\"259\" class=\"size-full wp-image-15581\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-15581\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Two months shy of celebrating one year on the tracks, The Q Train has taken out two peak industry excellence awards, winning Restaurant &#038; Catering Australia\u2019s Victorian Tourism Restaurant and Consumer Vote awards.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Q Train has won two peak industry excellence awards, two months shy of their first anniversary.
