{"id":156119,"date":"2025-03-02T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-01T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=156119"},"modified":"2025-02-27T13:09:23","modified_gmt":"2025-02-27T02:09:23","slug":"new-award-added-to-artx-regional-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/new-award-added-to-artx-regional-exhibition\/","title":{"rendered":"New award added to artX Regional exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE largest exhibition and competition in the Geelong region for artists with disability or a history of mental illness has a new award category.<\/p>\n<p>GenU is anticipating record entries for its annual artX Regional exhibition, and chief executive officer Clare Amies said the new award&#8217;s purpose is to highlight how one artist had progressed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our High Achievement Award will recognise an aspiring artist for their significant commitment across a 12-to-18-month journey, and how their creativity has evolved along the way,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>The free exhibition will run from April 2 to April 24 in the Rachinger Gallery at the genU Eastern Hub Community Centre.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/03\/artXRegional2024entr_74430.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ArtX Regional 2024 entrant Aaron Deans next to his entry displayed in the 2024 exhibition.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Artists are allowed to submit up to three works.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There will be a vibrant and diverse range of artwork for sale, as we anticipate at least 150 entries this year, so there will be something to suit everyone&#8217;s style,&#8221; Ms Amies said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Having an artX original in your office or home will enrich any space, create a positive talking point, and you&#8217;ll be supporting artists financially and creatively.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Submissions are open now and will close on March 21. Artists from the greater Geelong region, central Victoria, the Western District and the Mornington region are eligible to enter.
