VOLUNTEERS have turned out in force to protect and enhance the clifftop grasslands along Ocean Boulevard in Jan Juc.<\/p>\n
Staff from the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority teamed up with Jan Juc Coast Action to roll up their sleeves last week.<\/p>\n
The grasslands are home to native vegetation including specific coastal shrubs and remnant grassland plants which play a crucial role in supporting local biodiversity.<\/p>\n
The two groups mowed the grassland and raked up organic matter to deplete the soil of excess nutrients, particularly nitrogen.<\/p>\n
Authority conservation coordinator Scott Hives said regular care and attention has ensured the area can thrive.<\/p>\n
