A TORQUAY surf camp operator is bringing more colour to mental health by hosting a Fluro Friday event tomorrow morning (Friday, March 21).<\/p>\n
The event at Torquay Front Beach is a partnership between Honu Honi and Australian not-for-profit One Wave, who are celebrating their 12th birthday.<\/p>\n
Attendees are encouraged to dress in their brightest fluro gear and share stories and reflections on what helps them with their mental health.<\/p>\n
Honu Honi owner Becky Goschnick said the event would be one not to miss.<\/p>\n
“We’re beyond excited to celebrate OneWave’s 12th birthday with our local community.<\/p>\n
“Mental health is just as important as physical health, and this event is a way to bring people together, support one another, and enjoy the ocean in a safe and welcoming space.”<\/p>\n
Since 2013, OneWave has held fluro events across 50 countries to reduce mental health stigma and help “free the funk.”<\/p>\n
OneWave founder Grant Trebilco said he was thrilled to be teaming up with Honu Honi on this event.<\/p>\n
“It’s all about giving more people the chance to ride waves, talk about mental health, and feel part of a supportive community.<\/p>\n
“Dress in your brightest fluro to help bring more colour to mental health and join us for a fluro surf or swim.”<\/p>\n
Fluro Friday is a free community event, and everyone is welcome.<\/p>\n
The event is free to attend, and as much fluro is recommended.<\/p>\n
