{"id":15823,"date":"2018-08-15T09:22:08","date_gmt":"2018-08-14T23:22:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=15823"},"modified":"2018-08-16T22:42:43","modified_gmt":"2018-08-16T12:42:43","slug":"voting-opens-for-pick-my-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/voting-opens-for-pick-my-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Voting opens for Pick My Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A NUMBER of proposals from across the Geelong region are featured in the state government\u2019s Pick My Project initiative, which opened for voting this week.<\/p>\n<p>More than 2,000 project ideas were put forward across the state.<\/p>\n<p>Victorians can help make their favourite project ideas a reality by voting for the top three eligible projects in their local community.<\/p>\n<p>The more than 100 projects from the Barwon region nominated for votes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Free workshops covering financial education for women in Torquay<\/li>\n<li>An extension of the Torquay Scout Hall<\/li>\n<li>An indigenous edible garden in Nautical Drive, Torquay<\/li>\n<li>An upgrade to the car park at the Anglesea Football and Netball Club<\/li>\n<li>A local township speaker system for emergencies, incidents and events in Anglesea<\/li>\n<li>An inclusive basket swing for the Moriac playground<\/li>\n<li>Sun protection over the Flinders Parade playground in Barwon Heads<\/li>\n<li>The \u201cChristmas in the Grove\u201d project in Ocean Grove<\/li>\n<li>The creation of a community meeting place in Drysdale<\/li>\n<li>Refurbishment of the infrastructure at the miniature railway track in Portarlington<\/li>\n<li>Removal of asbestos at the Indented Head Community Hall<\/li>\n<li>Conserving the Lonsdale Rocket Shed as an interactive heritage site<\/li>\n<li>A multipurpose electronic scoreboard at Lorne\u2019s Stribling Reserve<\/li>\n<li>The Forrest Community Gym, and<\/li>\n<li>Multi-purpose cinema facilities at the Apollo Bay Community Centre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Project ideas with the most votes will share in the $30 million funding, with between $20,000 and $200,000 available for each project idea.<\/p>\n<p>The $30 million in funding has been divided between the six metropolitan and nine regional partnership areas, with each to receive at least $1 million for project ideas in their area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been inundated with great community project ideas and now it\u2019s time for Victorians to vote,\u201d Minister for Suburban Development Lily D\u2019Ambrosio said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPick My Project is giving every community the chance to submit ideas, vote for them and then watch them happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For more information, head to pickmyproject.vic.gov.au, facebook.com\/pickmyproject, or phone 1800 797 818.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A NUMBER of proposals from across the Geelong region are featured in the state government\u2019s Pick My Project initiative, which opened for voting this week.
