GOOD Friday is fast approaching, and the local organisers of this year’s Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Good Friday Appeal (GFA) are urging the community to dig deep and push the fundraising figure higher.<\/p>\n

Torquay GFA regional manager Peter McMahon is pleading for support as there are less than three weeks left to donate.<\/p>\n

“Last year, we raised $78,000 in the Torquay region. But I can’t see us achieving that figure this year unless we concentrate heavily on fundraising through various means available to every one of us,” he said.<\/p>\n

“It is critical that we raise much-needed dollars to help the kids currently in the RCH and those who will need the hospital’s specialised services in the future.<\/p>\n

“Yes, I am appealing to our whole community to get on board, rattle a tin, run a fundraiser no matter how small it might be, and gather friends to work as a team gathering funds.”<\/p>\n

GFA volunteers help power the Good Friday Appeal fundraising throughout regional Victoria, including Torquay and its surrounds.<\/p>\n

“Almost every family in Victoria has been touched in some way by the care and medical support at the Royal Children’s Hospital, care and support that have helped so many youngsters,” Mr McMahon said.<\/p>\n

“To put in a dollar or two to help the hospital with research, care and rehabilitation comes quite readily with most donors.<\/p>\n

He said the 2024 appeal received donations from people of all ages, which drove that year’s total towards $78,000.<\/p>\n

“The Royal Children’s Hospital needs our support now, more than ever, for research, new technology, rehabilitation and supporting the kids who need the hospital.”<\/p>\n
