THE Anglesea Lions and Lionettes Club is welcoming newcomers who want to contribute to their community.<\/p>\n

Both groups meet once a month and according to the club it’s “about neighbours helping neighbours, friendships that last a lifetime, and a shared love for our beautiful town”.<\/p>\n

Every dollar raised by the club goes directly back into the community and in the past 15 years, it has distributed more than $250,000 to support local, statewide, national, and international causes.<\/p>\n

It has a strong partnership with the Anglesea Community Bank, which has helped make many projects possible.<\/p>\n

One example is funding and maintaining 15 defibrillators throughout Anglesea and Aireys Inlet to help the community be better prepared for emergencies.<\/p>\n

The club has supported community events and groups, including the Lionettes’ Pink Ribbon Day fundraiser, Anglesea Historical Society, Anglesea Football Netball Club, Community Garden, Anglesea CFA and Carols by Candlelight.<\/p>\n

Other causes the club has been behind include Camp Quality, Anglesea Medical Centre, Lookdown Care Packs, Primary School Bursaries, and disaster relief.<\/p>\n

The club has been going for almost 60 years and Lions International started in Chicago more than 100 years ago with a simple idea \u2013 communities are stronger when people come together to help each other.<\/p>\n
