{"id":160519,"date":"2025-05-04T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-03T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=160519"},"modified":"2025-05-02T16:26:13","modified_gmt":"2025-05-02T06:26:13","slug":"many-hands-helping-nature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/many-hands-helping-nature\/","title":{"rendered":"Many hands helping nature"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than 50 people got their hands dirty last weekend and participated in the Great Ocean Road Clean Up Day.<\/p>\n<p>While the Rip Curl Pro was on hold, 10 full bags of rubbish were collected from Hurst Road to the Forest Road roundabout in Anglesea.<\/p>\n<p>The event was organised by local souvenir wholesaler Explore+Engage+Enjoy in association with the Torquay Rubbish Rangers.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers ranged in age, with plenty of children showing enthusiasm and commitment to keeping their hometown clean.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/GreatOceanRoad_Clean_73777.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rubbish was collected from Hurst Road to the Forest Road roundabout in Anglesea.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All sorts of materials were collected throughout the day, including broken off car parts, roof racks and empty bottles.<\/p>\n<p>Explore+Engage+Enjoy managing director Carlo Lowden said it was a fantastic day out for all involved.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It felt rewarding pick-up rubbish along the Great Ocean Road.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/GreatOceanRoad_Clean_73750.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"394\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ten full bags of rubbish were filled on the day.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our products are sold in 10 stores along our coastline &#8211; so it felt good to be giving something back to the attraction that we make money out of.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our hope is that the Great Ocean Road lasts for a long time so future generations can travel here and see its natural beauty.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/GreatOceanRoad_Clean_73774.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">All sorts of material was collected throughout the day, including broken off car parts, roof racks and empty bottles.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If people wish to be part of a local rubbish collection, head to the Rubbish Rangers Facebook page and sign up today.<\/p>\n<p>The Torquay group meets every Sunday at 9am above the Salty Dog Caf\u00e9 from October to the last weekend in May.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than 50 people got their hands dirty last weekend and participated in the Great Ocean Road Clean Up Day.
