{"id":160571,"date":"2025-05-03T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-02T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=160571"},"modified":"2025-05-02T16:24:48","modified_gmt":"2025-05-02T06:24:48","slug":"new-playgroup-sets-tails-wagging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/new-playgroup-sets-tails-wagging\/","title":{"rendered":"New playgroup sets tails wagging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A NEW playgroup is bringing French bulldogs and their families together for weekly laughs, cuddles and social play at the Torquay Common.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/DSC05949-2_41626.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The relaxed, family-friendly playgroup gathering brings together Frenchies of all ages for a play.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Inspired by an energetic 11-week-old Frenchie named Rue, the playgroup will this weekend mark its fourth gathering and is already growing quickly in size.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/DSC05990-2_41601.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">After just three playgroup gatherings, new friendships are already blooming.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Amanda Caddaye, who created the group earlier this month after Rue joined her family, said her initial goal was to help her daughter Susie connect with other French bulldog lovers and to learn more about the affectionate and quirky dog breed.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/DSC05992-2_41632.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">One recent rescue pup, who spent the first 12 months of his life confined to a cage, travelled all the way from Clifton Springs with his new family to be involved in the playgroup.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But as it evolves, she hopes the playgroup can become a source of community and support to those who attend.<\/p>\n<p>One of the playgroup&#8217;s members, a friendly rescue pup who spent the first 12 months of his life confined to a cage, travels all the way from Clifton Springs with his family to be involved.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/DSC05995-2_41739.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He is still learning how to play and interact with other dogs.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Caddaye said all were welcome at the family-friendly playgroup and encouraged anyone interested in joining to come along to a get-together.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/DSC05999-2_41680.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you&#8217;ve got a Frenchie and you want to connect with other Frenchie owners, come on down,&#8221;
