THE Surf Coast Shire is conducting a speed limit review of residential streets in Anglesea, Aireys Inlet, Fairhaven and Moggs Creek, and is asking for feedback from users of these roads.<\/p>\n

The shire says the speed review will ensure local streets are safe for all road users, including motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and wildlife.<\/p>\n

“It’s really important our community that use these local roads complete this survey,” Cr Leon Walker said.<\/p>\n

“If our streets feel safe, you’re more likely to go walking or riding and it adds to a sense of belonging and love for the neighbourhood. And it’s especially important for our kids and wildlife.<\/p>\n

“Safe streets help make places that people love.”<\/p>\n

The review will be conducted in two parts: a survey of the community that uses these roads; and an independent consultant will conduct a technical assessment of the roads.<\/p>\n

Community feedback will be considered alongside the technical report to determine locations for making recommendations for speed limit reductions.<\/p>\n

This speed review will not include the Great Ocean Road, as this is managed by Department of Transport and Planning. “We want to understand how the local community use the local roads and if they feel safe on the roads at the current speed limits,” Cr Walker said.<\/p>\n

“There is also a map of the area in the survey for the community to leave comments on individual roads.”<\/p>\n

The survey is open now and closes on May 19.<\/p>\n

This speed review is being funded by a Victorian government grant through the Regional Speed Package for Barwon South West.<\/p>\n
