THE community is being invited to have their say on the future of the Apollo Bay Harbour, with public feedback now being sought on the draft Harbour Precinct Plan.<\/p>\n
The draft plan, alongside an Opportunities and Constraints Report detail the key issues currently facing the harbour and propose improvements to enhance public access, amenity, safety and the long-term functionality of the working harbour.<\/p>\n
Key precinct improvements identified in the draft Precinct Plan include upgrades to the Apollo Bay Fisherman’s Co-Operative.<\/p>\n
The venue will benefit from modernised facilities to support local fishers and elevate the visitor experience.<\/p>\n
As part of improvements, the existing roadway and parking area in front of the Co-Op will be transformed into a pedestrian-friendly public promenade.<\/p>\n
A redesigned Mothers Beach car park will serve as the precincts main parking area, offering accessible parking and convenient access to the harbour.<\/p>\n
Improved pedestrian and cycling connections will also help make it safer and easier for locals and visitors to move between the foreshore and main street.<\/p>\n
Upgrades to the Port Operations Depot, a new viewing deck, a new community meeting space, and Ocean Rescue vessel storage make up some of the other improvements identified in the plan.<\/p>\n
Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority acting chief executive officer Christine Ferguson said all community feedback was welcome.<\/p>\n

Whether you live here, work here, or simply love this place \u2014 your feedback is crucial to shaping a redevelopment that honours the past while paving the way for a vibrant, thriving future.”<\/p>\n
Community members are encouraged to provide feedback or attend an information session:<\/p>\n
Friday, May 23, 3pm to 6pm (Apollo Bay Golf Club)<\/p>\n
May 24, 9am to 1pm (Apollo Bay Market), and<\/p>\n
May 27, 12 noon to 1pm (online).<\/p>\n
