{"id":16157,"date":"2018-08-22T07:56:45","date_gmt":"2018-08-21T21:56:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=16157"},"modified":"2018-08-23T21:54:39","modified_gmt":"2018-08-23T11:54:39","slug":"surf-coast-joins-localised-revolution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/living\/surf-coast-joins-localised-revolution\/","title":{"rendered":"Surf Coast joins Localised revolution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>On August 31, the Surf Coast will join the Localised movement with an official launch taking place at The Sands Torquay as part of the Geelong Small Business Festival.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Localised Meetups bring together local suppliers and local buyers from across the Geelong and G21 region to network, connect and build meaningful business relationships and thanks to a partnership with the Surf Coast Shire, residents across the coast will now be able to do the same.<\/p>\n<p>Surf Coast Shire Mayor David Bell said the council had been keeping an eye on the Localised Meetups in Geelong and had decided it was the right time to bring it to the shire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got the population growth so if we can help keep people employed within the shire that\u2019s great. This is one of those opportunities to say buy local,\u201d Cr Bell said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re putting businesses in touch with other local businesses \u2013 by 2030 we need to find a couple of thousands extra jobs to keep people in the shire employed, anything that will help that is perfect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cr Bell said the Surf Coast Shire\u2019s economic development team urged them to put money towards the project which would allow businesses to attend the event for free.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe put up the subscription so it makes it free for our local businesses to actually be a part of what I think is a great initiative.
