NEW signage will be installed in Torquay to assist people with identifying key destinations such as beaches, parks and shopping precincts.<\/p>\n
From later this month, 60 signs will be placed throughout the township to make it easier for people to navigate.<\/p>\n
The new signage features helpful information such as distances between locations and is aimed at encouraging more people to walk or ride.<\/p>\n
Cr Liz Pattison welcomed the new signage as a way of promoting accessibility and active transport.<\/p>\n
“Currently there is a lack of wayfinding signage in an overall cluttered signage landscape across Torquay, which we want to clean up and simplify so that it’s accessible for all,” she said.<\/p>\n
“Torquay is a great place to make your way around on foot or bike, so the signs will point out walking and cycling paths.<\/p>\n
“We really want to inspire more people to opt for active transport over car trips where they can.”<\/p>\n
As part of the project, a number of outdated signs will be removed throughout Torquay.<\/p>\n
The new signage style will be used to replace and install new signage in Torquay and other townships over time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
