TORQUAY Tigers players have lent a hand at Torquay College’s after school footy clinic, delivered as part of the school’s OSHC (Outside School Hours Care) program.<\/p>\n
Led by Tigers’ past and present players Rhys and Zac, who both work at the school, the clinic gave students the chance to improve their footy skills with the help of Tigers players, many of whom once ran around on the oval as children themselves.<\/p>\n
The OSHC initiative is part of a renewed focus on strengthening community connections under the leadership of new Torquay College principal Louise Kahle.<\/p>\n
Together with assistant principal Amy Snow, Ms Kahle is committed to embedding the school in the heart of the community they both live and work in.<\/p>\n
“These are the kinds of partnerships that make a real difference to kids and their sense of belonging,” she said.<\/p>\n
“It’s wonderful to see students learning from role models they can truly relate to.”<\/p>\n
Torquay College has also expressed its gratitude to the wider community for respecting school grounds during the holiday break.<\/p>\n
With previous years seeing damage and misuse, the school was pleased to report a much more respectful term break this time around, with locked gates largely honoured.<\/p>\n
“We know our school grounds are a much-loved community space, and when used with care, it’s something we’re proud to share,” Ms Snow said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
