THE Surf Coast Shire is supporting the development of a plan for Anglesea which residents will play a key role in creating then implementing over the next few years.<\/p>\n

Local input is being collected as part of the opening stage of development on the Anglesea Community Plan to progress local priorities and bring ideas to life.<\/p>\n

Shire mayor Mike Bodsworth said he was excited to continue empowering local residents.<\/p>\n

“Anglesea is a unique place and local people are passionate about its character and community.<\/p>\n

“It’s why I’m a huge supporter of community planning, because it brings people together and uses that passion and their local knowledge to create a plan that will have a lasting impact.”<\/p>\n

He said the Anglesea Community Plan would allow people in Anglesea to share perspectives on the future they want to create, and how to get there.<\/p>\n

“How do we want Anglesea to be, for people growing up or growing old here, or holidaying or working here, and for the plants and animals and natural landscapes that make it so special?<\/p>\n

“We’d love to get input from as wide a range of people as possible, so the plan reflects the diversity of the community.”<\/p>\n

People can share their thoughts and find out how to get involved in person at Anglesea Bowling Club on June 18 any time between 4pm and 6pm, or in a short online survey before June 24.<\/p>\n

The shire says input from everyone, from long-time residents to the newest of newcomers, will be valuable.<\/p>\n

“As an Anglesea local, I’m looking forward to dropping in to the bowls club to have a conversation and help get the ball rolling on this important project,” Cr Bodsworth said.<\/p>\n

“If you’re interested but you aren’t able to make the in-person session, I encourage you to complete the short online survey to make sure your voice is heard in this first stage.<\/p>\n

“You’ll be asked what you love about Anglesea, what you want to protect, and what you want the town’s future to be.”<\/p>\n

The shire has previously supported Moriac and Winchelsea residents to create community plans for their respective communities.<\/p>\n
