PORTARLINGTON has appointed assistant coach Nathan Storer and co-captain Mitch Turnbull to replace sacked senior coach Darren Findlay.<\/p>\n
They will take the lead as the Demons host bottom-placed Ocean Grove in BFL Round 9 on Saturday (June 7) at 2.10pm.<\/p>\n
The Demons sacked Findlay last week, following their 102-point loss to Queenscliff in Round 7.<\/p>\n
The sacking came after the team had lost four matches in a row to Drysdale, Torquay, Anglesea and the Coutas.<\/p>\n
Findlay was the Demons\u2019 new coach after taking the reins from Warren Finlayson.<\/p>\n
President Steve Cogger confirmed that injured captain Turnbull coached the team against Geelong Amateur in Round 8 with support from the reserves coaches and the leadership group.<\/p>\n
The Demons went down 16.13 (109) to 6.11 (47) at home after trailing by 42 points at quarter time.<\/p>\n
Portarlington is ninth on the ladder with two wins and six losses.<\/p>\n
The Dees won two of their opening three matches, including a good win against Newcomb who started the season in hot form.<\/p>\n
