After weeks of waiting, the Lorne Festival of the Performing Arts is finally upon us and ready to kick off from today until Sunday. Headlined by award-winning comedian Sammy J, the festival will feature comedy, magic, music and roving entertainment. The program kicks off tonight at Lorne Central from 8pm till late with exciting piano bar host Trevor Jones who has thrilled audiences around the world with his encyclopedic repertoire of songs.<\/p>\n
Friday night, the sell-out Gala Event, is primed to ensure guests experience a highlight of shows across the festival in one extravaganza of music, cabaret and comedy providing a unique tasting plate of the weekend entertainment that lies ahead. If you didn\u2019t have the opportunity to secure entry to the opening night don\u2019t be disappointed, as all the artists have scheduled performances throughout the weekend. There are still tickets available to most other performances.<\/p>\n

And for those that want a small day time break from the entertainment, the Colac and District Football League Finals (CDFL) series continues in Colac and Lorne still have all four football sides alive and kicking. After last week\u2019s first round a mixed bag of results with two wins and two losses, our senior team comfortably defeating South Colac to book a blockbuster this Saturday against Birregurra for the right to be the first team progressing to the 2018 Grand Final.<\/p>\n
Our under 14.5 Football side also did the town proud in what must be the most courageous win of the finals series to date coming from behind in the final stages of the game to run out winners by less than a goal. They now join our Reserve Grade and Under 17\u2019s in cut throat semifinals in Colac on Sunday for the right to progress to Preliminary Final.<\/p>\n
Earlier this week, at Monday night\u2019s CDFL Under 14.5 best and fairest awards, Fraser Balderas finished equal third in the vote count and then in the under 17\u2019s, his brother Oscar and Simon Umbers were joint runners up polling 20 votes in the best and fairest award for 2018. Great individual awards and congratulations to the boys. The Dolphins are kicking goals in all directions and let\u2019s hope this weekend the success continues \u2013 Go Dolphins!<\/p>\n
