SURF Coast Longboarders will band the community together for a good cause next weekend as it hosts its annual Winter Classic.<\/p>\n

The event on July 5 and July 6 will feature surf action at Point Impossible Beach, followed by an auction night to raise vital funds to support a local resident undergoing cancer treatment.<\/p>\n

More than 80 people competed in the event in 2024, helping to raise over $10,000 for a family in need.<\/p>\n

Club president Penny Andrews said excitement was high for another huge event this year.<\/p>\n

“It’s always a really exciting event as it’s our biggest fundraiser for the year.<\/p>\n

“For some people they come along and surf in the event and have a great time, but for some of us who get to hand over the cheque and help the family its quite emotional.<\/p>\n

“We know that we’ve done a really nice thing to help people, and that they really appreciate it.<\/p>\n

“Whatever money we can raise from the auction night and event entries will go to the family, and they can use that as they wish.”<\/p>\n

Ms Andrews said Surf Coast Longboarders were expecting a fantastic field of Victorian surfers to hit the water.<\/p>\n

“We always have a great field of locals, and people from across the state who come and support us.<\/p>\n

“Ben Considine, Matthew Lumley just to name a few will be putting their hat in the ring this year.<\/p>\n

“We are hoping to have plenty more come along and surf with us, including all our age divisions up to Over 80’s.”<\/p>\n

Over the past five years, the event has raised over $50,000 for local families in need and charitable organisations.<\/p>\n
