SURFCOAST Chargers are looking to sharpen up their three-point shooting as they prepare for their second versus fifth battle against Southern Peninsula.<\/p>\n
The Chargers play the Sharks away tomorrow (Saturday, July 5) at 7.30pm in Big V Division 2.<\/p>\n
Captain Jason Reardon is expecting a tough contest.<\/p>\n
“They’ve had a couple of really good wins against the top side [Sherbrooke] and then against another top-four side [Collingwood],” he said.<\/p>\n
“So this is going to be a real challenge for us.”<\/p>\n
Reardon said the team needed to clean up its long-range shooting.<\/p>\n
“It’s definitely a weakness of ours at the moment, our three-point shots aren’t great.<\/p>\n
“Our percentages aren’t good, but our mid-range [shots] and getting on the rim is really good.<\/p>\n
“So the fact that we’re scoring 90 points without shooting the three-ball at a great percentage is a really good sign. Once that clicks, we’ll be flying.”<\/p>\n
Surfcoast, who have an 11-2 record, beat Mornington 85-76 last weekend after accounting for Melton 109-99 in their previous game.<\/p>\n
Reardon said the consistency had been difficult to attain this season due to injuries and work commitments.<\/p>\n
However, he noted the Chargers were now getting about 10 players to training to scrimmage and work through offensive scenarios.<\/p>\n
The Surf Coast women, who are fifth on the table with a 7-7 record, play Southern Peninsula away tomorrow at 5pm.<\/p>\n
The women won both their encounters last weekend, overcoming Gippsland United 74-63 and Blackburn 68-55.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
