{"id":165329,"date":"2025-07-13T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-12T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=165329"},"modified":"2025-07-10T12:48:18","modified_gmt":"2025-07-10T02:48:18","slug":"lunchtime-live-radio-show-a-hit-with-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/lunchtime-live-radio-show-a-hit-with-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Lunchtime live radio show a hit with students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ARMSTRONG Creek School Grade 6 students had the opportunity to perform a weekly live radio show in term 2.<\/p>\n<p>They wrote the scripts with segments such as music, karaoke and interviews; and the tech team also gained experience with live performance equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Kiam Linford has been running the performing arts taster program with fellow performing arts teachers Bec Wik and\u00a0Casey Burrill.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re doing a bunch of different performing arts based lunchtime activities and this is just one of them,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re doing dance clubs and ukulele clubs and things like that as well.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But this is the one that is a bit more open to the whole school because the Grade 6 kids get to create their own radio show.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/07\/IMG_0525_09366.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Students got to learn how to use tech equipment during the radio show experience. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Linford said the students had really taken to the concept.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It seems to be a very popular thing that we&#8217;re doing. We&#8217;re probably getting crowds of 100 kids at lunchtime, which is pretty amazing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They just all crowd around and are singing along to all the songs. It&#8217;s been very good for student wellbeing and student interest in the performing arts.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The program started this term and the radio show has been run every Thursday at lunchtime.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Linford said the school purchased a PA system and was going to use it for performances before they decided to start the tasters program.<\/p>\n<p>He said the school would run a podcast club, a dance club, and a choir club next term.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ARMSTRONG Creek School Grade 6 students had the opportunity to perform a weekly live radio show in term 2.
