A HUGE clash between the ladder leading Belmont Lions and the fourth-placed Thomson Tigers headline the first weekend of the GDFL bye round.<\/p>\n
This Saturday, July 12 will be the first of a split Round 13, with three games being played each weekend.<\/p>\n
In the match of the weekend, the Lions take on the Tigers at Winter Reserve, the first time the two have faced each other since Round 3. Both sides have won four on the trot and will look to continue their respective streaks with just six rounds to go.<\/p>\n
Thomson (8-4) will be hoping to cause an upset and solidify their spot in the top four, while Belmont (11-1) can hold their position on top with a win
\nat home.<\/p>\n
Anakie (6-6) will look to get back on track in their matchup against Geelong West (2-10), after losing to the bottom-placed Corio on their home deck in Round 12.<\/p>\n
The Giants, who sit second last on the ladder, were smashed by Thomson on the weekend and face the Kangaroos at West Oval on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Corio (2-10) will take on Winchelsea (2-10) at Shell Reserve, in a match that will give the winner outright 10th position on the ladder.<\/p>\n
The Devils are coming off a huge upset win against Anakie, just their second of the year, and will look to take the momentum into the final months of the season.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, after starting the year 2-1, the Blues can snap a nine-game losing streak against Corio, who was coincidentally the last team they beat.<\/p>\n
Bannockburn, Bell Post Hill, East Geelong, Inverleigh, North Geelong and Werribee Centrals all have their bye this weekend.<\/p>\n
