THE Anglesea and District Men\u2019s Shed will receive $20,000 from the state government as part of the latest round of Men\u2019s Shed funding.<\/p>\n
Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney announced the funding for the Anglesea shed, which will go towards its refurbishment, last week.<\/p>\n
The money will be used to create a new main entry at the shed (located next to the Anglesea Bowls Club), separate metal working area, a large community room and a quiet supportive space for men to support one another with health and well-being issues.<\/p>\n
The Anglesea and District Men\u2019s Shed is one of 29 men\u2019s sheds to benefit as part of the funding round \u2013 nine new men\u2019s sheds will be built and 20 existing sheds refurbished.<\/p>\n
The state government has already built or upgraded 70 men\u2019s sheds since November 2014.<\/p>\n
Each year, the state government provides $1 million to support men\u2019s sheds in Victoria, which includes funding for the Victorian Men\u2019s Shed Association.<\/p>\n
The most recent funding adds to the $75,000 that was recently announced to continue support for a dedicated Victorian Men\u2019s Shed Association Field Officer and their work to improve the sustainability and governance of the state\u2019s Men\u2019s Sheds network.<\/p>\n
The sheds are safe and practical places for locals to meet, make social connections and actively participate in their local communities.<\/p>\n
\u201cMen\u2019s sheds are incredibly valuable to so many within our community \u2013 congratulations to all the members of the Anglesea and District Men\u2019s Shed who can now start work on their new project thanks to our support,\u201d Ms Tierney said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe refurbished shed will give locals in Anglesea a relaxed place to come together, to talk, to share experiences and to have a go at learning new skills and taking part in new projects.<\/p>\n
