{"id":166485,"date":"2025-07-31T06:00:52","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T20:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=166485"},"modified":"2025-07-30T16:47:43","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T06:47:43","slug":"jimmy-barnes-to-headline-geelong-concert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/jimmy-barnes-to-headline-geelong-concert\/","title":{"rendered":"Jimmy Barnes to headline Geelong concert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AUSTRALIAN music icon Jimmy Barnes is celebrating the 40th anniversary of his second solo album, and will mark the occasion with a national tour of outdoor shows, including in Geelong later this year.<\/p>\n<p>The Jimmy Barnes Working Class Man 40th Anniversary Tour, presented by MG Live and Face To Face Touring, will also feature Icehouse, Ian Moss and Kate Ceberano.<\/p>\n<p>The sometimes Cold Chisel frontman better known as Barnesy will perform his album <em>For the Working Class Man<\/em> from start to finish, taking the crowd from <em>I\u2019d Die To Be With You Tonight<\/em> to <em>Paradise<\/em>, plus classic cuts from his chart-topping catalogue.<\/p>\n<p>Released in December 1985, <em>For The Working Class Man<\/em> went straight to number one on the Australian charts and helped define Barnes\u2019 hugely successful solo career.<\/p>\n<p>The album spent seven weeks at number one, becoming Barnes\u2019 longest-running chart-topper and has sold more than 500,000 copies in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>For The Working Class Man<\/em> was such a significant album in my life. I got to make the record with some amazing people, and it really set up the rest of my solo career,\u201d Barnes said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m so excited to be celebrating <em>For The Working Class Man<\/em> with some of my dearest friends and favourite artists.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_166506\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-166506\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-166506\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/07\/iva-cropped.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/07\/iva-cropped.jpg 600w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/07\/iva-cropped-300x190.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-166506\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Icehouse frontman Iva Davies.
