SURF Coast residents are being invited to take the lead and contribute to the next Domestic Animal Management Plan.<\/p>\n

The plan will outline how Council and the local community can make the Surf Coast a place where people and pets can enjoy shared spaces.<\/p>\n

From registering your pet, to picking up dog poo when you’re out about, or sticking to the 24\/7 cat curfew, there are many ways to be a responsible pet owner.<\/p>\n

There are more than 4,500 registered dogs and 570 registered cats across the shire, showcasing the region’s love for furry friends.<\/p>\n

Councillor Adrian Schonfelder knows first hand just how special pets are.<\/p>\n

“I know through the bond with Whistler, my White Swiss Shepherd, just how special pets are and that they’re part of the family, offering so many health and wellbeing benefits.<\/p>\n

“Local laws relating to domestic animals are in place to ensure the community is safe for people and pets.<\/p>\n

“The Domestic Animal Management Plan helps us work towards this, which is why we’d love to hear your feedback on how we can manage dogs and cats and encourage responsible pet ownership.”<\/p>\n

People are invited to complete a community survey which will help shape the plan to be considered by Council.<\/p>\n
