{"id":167980,"date":"2025-08-24T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-23T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=167980"},"modified":"2025-08-20T17:50:17","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T07:50:17","slug":"cats-break-membership-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/cats-break-membership-record\/","title":{"rendered":"Cats break membership record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Geelong Cats have hit an all-time membership high, eclipsing 91,000 members for the first time in the AFL club&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<p>After surpassing 90,000 members in 2024, this season marked the fourth consecutive campaign in which Geelong&#8217;s membership base has grown.<\/p>\n<p>Geelong Football Club president Grant McCabe said the milestone was a significant achievement as the Cats AFL and AFLW teams head towards an exciting time of the year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have now broken our membership record and we are over 91,000 members for 2025,&#8221; McCabe said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So thank-you to all of our members who have contributed to that and remember, AFLW [started] this [past] weekend too so there is plenty of time to sign up.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/08\/cheersquad_58741.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cats fans are preparing to to cheer their side through another AFL finals series.
