Coast embraces Book Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SCHOOLS, libraries and early learning centres have embraced Book Week again this year, dressing up as their favourite story characters and celebrating a love for reading.<\/p>\n<p>The annual event, which ran August 16 to August 23, saw schools around the Geelong region host a variety of Book Week parades and activities.<\/p>\n<p>Torquay&#8217;s St Therese got involved with the celebrations, culminating in a parade with students and staff last Friday (August 23).<\/p>\n<p>St Therese&#8217;s Ty Hudson said Book Week was a highlight of the year \u2014 a celebration of stories, creativity and the magic of reading.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Here at St Therese, our Book Week Parade is one of the most eagerly awaited events of the school year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a day filled with colour, fun and imagination.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_168704\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Students participated in the Book Week parade as part of the annual celebrations.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our students love dressing up as their favourite book characters, showing off their creativity in the parade, diving into the CBCA Book Week stories, and joining in exciting literacy activities with their house groups.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Students dressed up as characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Dog Man, Mario, Wizard of Oz and more.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinated by the Children&#8217;s Book Council of Australia, this year Children&#8217;s Book Week celebrated 80 years with the theme &#8216;Book an Adventure&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The theme was captured by this year&#8217;s feature artist Jess McGeachin whose work highlights Book an Adventure and encourages children to imagine, explore and create their own adventures.<\/p>\n<p>Book Week will return in 2026 and will run from August 22 until August 28, with a new theme, to be announced tomorrow (Friday, August 29).<\/p>\n<p>For more information, head to <a
